Lesch injured, Vapi steps in to face Henderson

Johannesburg (South Africa) – Wiehahn Lesch has broken his foot in preparation for his fight at EFC AFRICA 09 on 30 June, ruling him out of competing at the event. Although an accomplished MMA athlete, Lesch was due to make his EFC AFRICA debut against another consummate fighter, Wade Henderson.

Top striker Mawande Vapi from Cape Town is stepping in to face Henderson. Vapi is fit and ready to fight as he was due to fight Michiel Opperman at 09 who broke his hand in training earlier this week.

Both Henderson and Vapi are renowned strikers so look forward to an exciting match-up. “I said six weeks ago that Lesch was scared to fight me and now he pulls out” says Henderson. “Thanks to Mawande for taking the fight. He is a great competitor, very tough and an all-round nice guy. I see him as one of the top stand-up fighters in the game”.
