Johannesburg (South Africa) – The EFC AFRICA 14 fight card is complete! Carnival City’s Big Top Arean will host 13 bouts of Africa’s top MMA action on 1 June, including two title fights.

The thirteenth and final bout, Francois Groenewald vs Alain Ilunga, has been added to the fight card! Groenewald has had two nail-biting bouts at EFC AFRICA so far: At EFC AFRICA 10, Groenewald faced Abdul Hassan and lost via unanimous judges’ decision after three rounds. At EFC AFRICA 12, Groenewald faced Dino Bertolis. Again he gave a spirited effort and did damage, but after three rounds was again unable to convince the judges he deserved victory. Respected for his grappling, Groenewald has been hard at work honing his striking skills, stating that he wants to be an entertaining fighter and that he will continue stalking the elusive knockout. Groenewald is 27 years old with a professional record of 2-2 and fights out of Rio Grappling Club Springs in Johannesburg.

Ilunga was set to make his EFC AFRICA debut at EFC AFRICA 13 but his opponent Johan van Staden was forced to withdraw from the card at the last minute. Before becoming a professional MMA athlete, Ilunga amassed an impressive 22 amateur bouts in K1 kickboxing, boxing and MMA. Although he comes from a striking background, his last five MMA fights have been won by submission. He began MMA in 2011 specifically to compete at EFC AFRICA. Ilunga is 22 years old with a professional record of 1-0 and fights out of Panther Fighting Arts in Cape Town.
