Johannesburg (South Africa) – Africa’s premier mixed martial arts show is back in just two weeks! On Friday 23 November, Carnival City will erupt with explosive action as the last showcase of the year, EFC AFRICA 17, presented by MusclePharm, gets under way with what has been called “the most epic fight card to date” featuring 26 of Africa’s biggest MMA stars.

Jeremy ‘Pitbull’ Smith and Darren ‘Double D’ Daniel will will battle it out for the middleweight title. Smith, riding an 11 fight winning streak and undefeated in the EFC AFRICA Hexagon, claimed championship glory when he choked-out Garreth McLellan in March this year. The highly regarded Daniel, also undefeated in EFC AFRICA, brings his explosive aggression to the fight, making this the champion’s toughest test to date.

The undefeated lightweight champion, Costa Ioannou, will go head-to-head with Leon ‘Iron Lion’ Mynhardt. Ioannou has successfully defended his title twice, beating Alex Cheboub and former welterweight champion Adam Speechly, and looks to continue dominating the division. Since dropping to lightweight the ‘Iron Lion’ has torn through the division, and now only has Ioannou in the way of his championship glory.

Martin van Staden will put his skills to the test against former champion Jadyson Costa. Two exciting and popular athletes clash in this decisive bout for the welterweight division, as both contenders hope for a shot at the title.

With many other stars plus a few new faces, EFC AFRICA 17 is not to be missed!
