DRC Champion Boxer To Make EFC AFRICA Debut

Kanyeba Anicet to take on Boyd Allen at EFC AFRICA 19

Johannesburg (South Africa) – Today it has been announced that Gareth Buirski has had to pull off of the EFC AFRICA 19 fight card due to a leg injury sustained in training. Johannesburg based, DRC born athlete Kanyeba Anicet has stepped into the gap, promising a wild ride for top featherweight Boyd Allen come April 19.

Anicet is a mixed martial artist with a wealth of experience. Beginning his career with Judo training as a youngster he quickly discovered boxing and huge success. Three time DRC pro champion, Anicet has fought in top competition throughout Africa and the Middle East.

Currently training out of Undisputed Fight Club Anicet has an amateur MMA record of 8-1, his only loss to Gareth Buirski. Along with his highly developed boxing skills head trainer Jacques Rossouw has been working for the last year at augmenting Anicet’s Judo abilities with top level wrestling.

“He’s picked it up extremely quickly,” says Rossouw. “With his incredibly fast hand speed and his Judo experience he has an excellent wrestling base. He’s a huge handful.”

When asked whether he has any reservations with regard to fighting an athlete of Allen’s calibre on his debut, Anicet had this to say:

“I don’t care about his record. I have fought many big boxing matches. I don’t think about it. Let’s fight, and we’ll see what happens.”
