Johannesburg (South Africa) – What was to be a crunching top contender welterweight bout has morphed into a certain superfight with Tyron ‘The Rush’ Rightford taking the place of injured Daniel Sinclair against Dino ‘The Lion’ Bagattin for EFC AFRICA 19.
Behind the scenes controversy began on Wednesday last week when Rightford was approached and signed to face Bagattin as Sinclair’s replacement. Although Bagattin wanted the fight his management and EFC AFRICA were at contractual loggerheads, ultimately leading to Bagattin’s management declining. After mediation over the weekend a smiling Bagattin arrived at EFC AFRICA’s offices today, and the contract was signed.
“It was just a contractual issue,” says Bagattin of the situation. “We needed to make sure that all the ‘i’s were dotted and the ‘t’s crossed.” “I want to hurt him,” he adds, “I’m going to give him what he’s asked for.”
Rightford is unruffled and happy to see the fight finally on. “I’ve been wanting this fight ever since I dropped to welter,” he says. “I’ve been watching Dino for a while, and now I’m coming to fetch him. I’m going to knock him out.”
