Hurter Promises Pain

Top SA wrestler to compete at EFC AFRICA

Johannesburg (South Africa) – The last fight on the EFC AFRICA 20 fight card has been confirmed. Chris ‘Danger’ Du Pont faces EFC AFRICA debutant and devastating wrestler Charl ‘The Barbarian’ Hurter on June 27.

Hurter has been wrestling since he was four years old. He has been rated amongst the top five amateur wrestlers in South Africa for a period of seven years and has an amateur MMA record of 6-0, all first round finishes.

“Charl is a total machine,” says EFC AFRICA president Cairo Howarth. “He’s the son of a man that placed third at the world strongman championships and is a South African wrestling champion. Once he gets hold of someone there’s no letting go.”

“I’m not planning on losing,” says Hurter. “I want to get in there and show everyone how much work I’ve been putting in. This won’t be just a wrestling match. If Chris has the heart this is going to be a fight to remember.”

Du Pont is an athlete with huge promise. He beat current heavyweight sensation Sors Grobbelaar before joining with EFC AFRICA and has a string of high profile wins as an amateur. After weathering a tough debut at EFC AFRICA 19, where he was KO’d by Tumelo Maphutha in just seven seconds, he’s determined to redeem himself.

“I was nervous. I rushed him instead of staying composed,” says Du Pont of the experience. “My back is against the wall now,” he adds. “I want this more than anything.”
