Johannesburg (South Africa) – Cape Town resident ‘Knife’ Didier Kilola hails from the DRC, and is set to make his EFC AFRICA debut on June 05.
A former Judo and amateur MMA champion, he is slated to face heavyweight giant and fellow DRC native Ricky ‘Apocalypse’ Misholas. Here’s a look at ‘Knife’ the man, ahead of his monumental fight.
How did you get your fight name?
My name translated from French to English means ‘Panga’ (Machete), so people call me ‘Knife’.
When and why did you start martial arts training?
I started MMA three years ago. I am from a Judo background. I have to compete.
How did you transition to MMA?
I always wanted to compete in MMA.
What ranks and titles have you held?
CFL light heavyweight champion, Judo SA and WP champion, West Africa champion.
Tell us about your most memorable fight.
Winning the CFL championship.
What is your favourite technique?
I enjoy my Judo throws and Wrestling takedowns.
What other interesting information can you tell us about yourself?
I am married with two boys. I train full time to compete as a professional MMA athlete. I enjoy soccer and my favourite food is pap. I have lived in South Africa for nine years. I came here for a better life.
