Johannesburg (South Africa) – The Mother City’s own Marcel ‘Little Hammer’ Teniers enters the EFC Hexagon for the third time on June 05, and will be looking for his third straight win, this time against Johannesburg’s David Buirski.
The undefeated Dragon Power team member made his debut at the same, GrandWest Grand Arena in November last year. There he showed superb mental strength against a frenzied onslaught from the talented Morne Prinsloo. Weathering a first round storm of unorthodox strikes and superb grappling Teniers turned the tide in the second, smashing his opponent out with hard ground and pound.
In his second bout, in March of this year, Teniers faced the highly rated EFC debutant Wayde Sage. In the reverse of his first appearance he immediately came out blazing with a massive and sustained attack. Sage crumbled under the onslaught, giving Teniers his second victory, this time via submission in the first.

Teniers has proven himself to be hugely powerful and doggedly tenacious, his numerous grappling accolades adding to his accomplished skill set. David Buirsk is a big step up the divisional ladder, however.
Buirski is more experienced with a pro MMA record of 5-2, and has fought the uppermost names of the welterweight division. Also riding a two fight win streak, and already within striking distance of the top of the division, Buirski will be putting everything in for a win in Cape Town.
Teniers and Buirski possess similar styles. Both operate off of a base of immense power, both are highly conditioned, and both thrive in close quarters. With little to separate them on paper, it is Teniers’ home crowd advantage that may make the difference.
For Teniers, three straight wins and a still unblemished record will push him into the top contender reaches of the division. For Buirski, a win will do the same. On June 05, when a Johannesburg great meets Cape Town’s rising star in front of a Mother City crowd, there’s everything to play for.
