My First Victim

Zulu vs Groenewald, 11 December

Francois Groenewald comes close to victory against Demarte Pena at EFC 34.

Johannesburg (South Africa) – EFC 36 will see history in the making when a former bantamweight champion and former bantamweight title contender square off for the first time in the first flyweight division bout. The Muay Thai sensation Nkazimulo ‘Zulu Boy’ Zulu takes on submission specialist Francois ‘Franaconda’ Groenewald.

“It is a really good opportunity and I think this will be the most exciting division,” commented Groenewald on the opening of the flyweight division. “I think Graeme picked a really exciting opening bout with Zulu and I, we will be setting the bar really high for the rest of the flyweights.”

“Part of the reason for the cut is the big guys cutting down” referring Groenwald to his drop down to flyweight. “But I also just really want to fight. Would have taken any fight and but jumped on the opportunity to open the new weight class,” he added.

“Man, Zulu has some sick stand-up and I am sure losing his belt has made him hungry for the win,” exclaimed Groenewald. “But I am also coming off a loss and will be making a statement with a big finish!”

“Zulu, this is my new division and not only will you be my first victim but you will also suffer your first submission loss,” stated Groenewald.
