Johannesburg, South Africa – Anthony Mailer was set to fight in front of his home crowd in Cape Town earlier this month, but he discovered an abscess in his mouth and was required to withdraw from the bout immediately. Fully recovered and rearing to go, Mailer is set to face EFC veteran Kanyeba Anticet at EFC 40 on June 6th at Carnival City.
When withdrawing from the Cape Town bout, Mailer stated, ““I wanted this fight so badly. All I want is a promise that Graeme (Cartmell) will put me on the next fight card.” EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell delivered on his promise. Mailer will get back into the Hexagon and is sure to put on the performance of a lifetime.
DRC native Kanyeba Anicet, has been competing in the Hexagon since EFC 19. Training out of Undisputed Gym in Pretoria, Anicet has delivered exciting match-ups with every appearance in the Hexagon. He brings a wealth of experience and has faced many of the division’s best including the champion Boyd Allen. The veteran on a two-fight losing streak will leave nothing to the judges in search of a redeeming victory.
This exciting prelim bout, plus 6 others can be viewed live at Carnival City or from the larger than life Ster-Kinekor theatres across South Africa.
