Athlete uses media platform to highlight unrest at home

Sun City, South Africa – This past weekend the biggest stars of EFC 61 converged on Sun City for a weekend of media engagements, ahead of fight night this coming Saturday, July 8.

Amidst the standard fare of fight experience and fight tactics, light heavyweight champion Dalcha Lungiambula took the opportunity to make a heart-felt plea for peace in the war ravaged country of the Democratic Replublic of the Congo, his place of birth.

Dalcha’s words underline the reality of many fighters’ situations. Some travel far from home and train in alien environments in search of success, all the while aware of the precarious circumstances loved ones at home face.

Dalcha defends his light heavyweight title against France’s Alan Baudot this Saturday.

EFC 61: Van Zyl vs Mostert, Dalcha vs Baudot is presented by www.BetXchange.com and takes place on Saturday 8 July live from the Superbowl at Sun City in North West province, RSA. Tickets are on sale at www.computicket.com, and the 5 main card bouts will be broadcast live on kwesesports.com (Sub-Saharan Africa), Kwesé Free Sports 1 (Kenya & Rwanda) and live in South Africa on SABC 3 starting at 21:00 (CAT).
