Johannesburg, South Africa – The first EFC event of 2018 fight card continues to garner attention. An exciting featherweight matchup between South Africa’s Steven Goncalves and DRC’s Trezegeut Kanyinda has just been added to the prelim fight card.
Tall and wiry, Goncalves is undefeated in EFC and in professional Mixed Martial Arts. Four fights, with three victories ending before the end of the first round, Goncalves is steadily climbing the division’s ranks. With his long distance Muay Thai striking and slick submission skills, the Johannesburg based TapOut Academy athlete looks to be going all the way.
Kanyinda is an anomaly; whenever he has been counted out, he turns it around and produces a wild finish. The Junkyard MMA standout has zigzagged back-and-forth between losses and wins, but notably his victories have come on late replacement fights, one on less than 24-hours’ notice. This fight against the highly regarded Goncalves might be his hardest, but history has shown that no matter what happens, he won’t go back.
This prelim fight takes place just ahead of main card featuring the inaugural EFC women’s strawweight between RSA’s Danella Eliasov and Italy’s Chiara Penco and the EFC featherweight championship between DRC’s Igeu Kabesa and RSA’s Boyd Allen.
EFC 67 Kabesa vs Allen, Eliasov vs Penco is presented by Betxchange.com and takes place on Saturday 10 March live from Carnival City, Johannesburg. Tickets are on sale soon at computicket.com, and the 5 main card bouts will be broadcast live on kwesesports.com (Sub-Saharan Africa), Kwesé Free Sports 1 (Kenya & Rwanda), TVplayer (UK) and live in South Africa on SABC 3 starting at 21:00 (CAT).
