Replacement being sought to face Pupanga Tresor

Johannesburg, South Africa – EFC Middleweight Champion Luke Michael has sustained a serious injury and is no longer able to defend his title on the 1st of December at EFC 100. After tearing his ACL ligament in fight camp, Michael is undergoing emergency surgery, leaving EFC matchmakers with the unenviable task of seeking an athlete able and willing to face the fearsome challenger, Pupanga Tresor. Michael’s medical team have informed the EFC that he will need a layoff of at least 6 months before he will be back to full fitness, and the entire EFC team wish Luke all the best with his recovery and hope to see him back, fighting fit inside the Hexagon.

EFC Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell – “We’re behind Luke all the way and will give him all the time he needs to heal before he competes again. Meanwhile we have offered the fight to JP Kruger, Mark Hulme and Jaco du Plessis who unfortunately would not be able to make it down to 185lbs in time. So now we’re looking at the welterweights to step up and be a worthy adversary for Tresor, athletes like Conrad Seabi, Ziko Makenegle, Kaleka Kabanda, Lyle Karam and Jose da Rocha”

In a twist of irony, it was Pupanga Tresor who saved the day as a late replacement to fight Da Rocha at EFC 66 and now the organisation is looking for a rematch under very different circumstances with an interim title on the line. But with EFC 100 still featuring two other incredible title fights; Cole Henning versus Tshilumba Mikixi for the interim lightweight belt and Nicholas Hwende defending his bantamweight title against Nkazimulo Zulu on top of a truly action-packed card, fans can be assured that the evening of the 1st of December will still be one of the most celebrated in the organisation’s history.

EFC 100, featuring three title fights, is presented by World Sports Betting and takes place on Thursday, 01 December 2022 live from the EFC Performance Institute in JHB, South Africa.
