Fighters Biography
Fight preparation?
I train every day. My training includes kickboxing, MMA-specific drills, ground work and cardio.
When and why did you start MMA?
I was invited to an MMA tournament and realised it was where I needed to be.
What ranks and titles have you held?
My amateur record boasts 7 wins and 2 losses. My pro record achievements so far include defeating Paul Vosloo, Boyd Allen and Cee Ngaboni, while suffering a loss to Johan van Staden.
What do you enjoy about MMA?
I get to hit people in the face and get paid (legally) to do it hahaha! Jokes aside, I appreciate the physical and mental demands we put ourselves through to be able to compete as mixed martial artists. The training programs designed to separate us from just your average “cage fighter” present a challenge I find hard to resist. Pushing our bodies to the limit in strength and endurance as well as fight-specific drills becomes the highlight of our days.
What do you consider your strengths to be?
People think that because I have a kickboxing background that I would list that as a strength, but in actual fact my stature and physique allow me to be versatile in stand up and on the ground. I am able to be quite tight and compact on the ground making it difficult to control me like you would a normal “stand up” fighter.
What do you do when not competing or training?
I work hard and I train hard so when it comes to down time there is nothing I like more than taking my pits for a walk and chilling with some music.
MMA highlights:
All my wins have been highlights although I’ve learned from the losses the most. Being invited to fight at EFC has got to rank amongst my top highlights.
