Wrestling and boxing
Fight preparation?
I try to improve on every aspect of my game. I work on my conditioning, skills and fitness. I train from once to as many as 3 times a day.
When and why did you start fighting?
When I was 13 and moved back to South Africa from Australia my father took me to EFC 04 and from watching Adam Speechly and Darren Daniel that night I fell in love with the sport. It was only when I was 16 that my father gave me the chance to train with Attila Barna (the same gym where Adam Speechly trained). Once I started I was hooked.
Transition onto MMA
Before my dad gave me the chance to take up MMA I did boxing and that was actually the path I wanted to take, but after a couple grappling and wrestling sessions I knew MMA was the sport for me.
Favourite technique:
I love a good suplex. But generally anything where I can display my wrestling abilities.
Tell us about your most memorable fight
My very first MMA fight, I was 16 and had been doing MMA for a few months. my opponent pulled out last second and I was match up with someone 6 years or so my senior and a lot more experienced. I lost on split decision but I felt as if I won considering how hard I fought.
