“We Fight, We Do What We Have To Do”
EFC AFRICA 19 post presser
23 April 2013
Johannesburg (South Africa) - EFC AFRICA 19 took place at the Carnival City Big Top Arena on April 19. It was a night of spectacular matchups with the evening’s title fight - Demarte ‘The Wolf’ Pena defending his featherweight belt against Wentzel ‘The Animal’ Nel - being widely tipped as the greatest title fight yet seen in the EFC AFRICA promotion, if anything simply for the unbelievable surprises it delivered on the night.
At the press conference held after the event main card athletes Demarte Pena, Wentzel Nel, Martin Van Staden, Adam Speechly, Dino Bagattin, Tyron Rightford as well as fight of the night winners Markus Taljaard and Peter Nyide and KO of the winner Sors Grobbelaar discussed all aspects of the event.
Tune in specifically for Pena and Nel’s commentary on how close their title battle was, Martin Van Staden on the incredible ups and downs of the fight game, and Bagattin and Rightford’s views on whether their bout was called fairly.
“I think it was a bit premature but well done to Dino, it was a war,” said Rightford. “He caught me, he did flash me, but that’s the fight game. We fight, we do what we have to do.”
EFC AFRICA president Cairo Howarth also discusses the current dilemma facing Boyd Allen and Demarte Pena, being team mates and unprepared to face each other in the featherweight division, as well as the current state of the lightweight division.
