A New Lubbe

In the absence of Diesel, here’s a free fight

07 June 2013

Johannesburg (South Africa) - Last week Juan ‘Legacy’ Lubbe called Neil Diesel out on his single performance in the EFC AFRICA Hexagon, suggesting that Diesel was ‘overrated’ and casting doubt on whether Diesel will actually fight him at EFC AFRICA 20.

After a two year absence from the Hexagon Lubbe has returned and by all accounts the man from Krugersdorp is a different athlete this time round. Teammates report a clinically focused and brutally efficient training partner while Lubbe himself speaks of “finally being in the right space, the right place, to fight to my potential.”

Lubbe began his comeback trail at EFC AFRICA 18 with a clinical and savage first round TKO of David van Schalkwyk.

“I hope he fights,” said Lubbe at the conclusion of last week’s interview. “I hope there are no excuses about an injured knee cap. I’m showing no mercy. I’ll kick it in if I have to.”

Earlier this week Diesel’s camp responded to Lubbe’s accusations by saying that Diesel would not be engaging in any communication on social media, instead he was taking himself off the grid and concentrating on the coming fight.

Despite his legendary reputation Diesel has yet to earn a W in the Hexagon. Has Lubbe correctly called him on his weakness, or is Diesel on track for a devastating comeback of his own? In the absence of Diesel, today EFC AFRICA releases Lubbe’s EFC AFRICA 18 comeback fight for your viewing.
