Heavyweight Showdown At EFC 28
Africa’s most dangerous collide
17 February 2014
Johannesburg (South Africa) - On March 27 the DRC’s Christophe Walravens and Angola’s Bernardo Mikixi, two of Africa’s most dangerous men, face off in a heavyweight bout to shake the continent.
In only three appearances Christophe Walravens (3-1) has developed into one of the most talented athletes in the heavyweight division.
He hit scintillating form with a vicious, controlled and brutal striking performance against Ian Visser at EFC AFRICA 22. At EFC AFRICA 25 he faced the behemoth, Roelof Scheepers, and showed incredible mental strength by absorbing ground and pound for a good part of the first round, before reversing the position and taking the win by TKO.
Bernardo Mikixi is a man already cemented among Africa’s greatest. The ‘Angolan Wrecking Machine’ has fists that have rocked Ruan Potts, Andrew van Zyl, Norman Wessels, and a host of others. He has challenged for the heavyweight title on three separate occasions. With a recent change of camp he is poised to wreak havoc with a skillset now balanced with hard won experience.
Walravens and Mikixi are giants of the African continent. With former champion Ruan Potts having relinquished his title the race for the vacant belt is on. Will the raw power of Mikixi prevail, or will Walravens’ precision be his undoing?
Walravens is a former African Judo champion while Mikixi began his martial arts career in that discipline. On March 27, be it standing or on the ground, an unrelenting battle will take place.
