THE EXCHANGES WILL BE BRUTAL AND RELENTLESS
Former heavyweight champion Andrew van Zyl is coming for what many believes to be his

Cape Town, South Africa - The seasoned campaigner, and former heavyweight champion has an immensely skilled ground game, is highly aggressive on his feet and is said to have the toughest jaw in the organisation. Fans can expect enormous action out of Andrew ‘One Gear’ van Zyl on 7 May as he looks to reclaim heavyweight gold, the title that many believe is rightfully his. With just over two weeks until Brendon Groenewald defends his title against van Zyl, many believe this is will the most tightly contested heavyweight championship fight in EFC history. Van Zyl was unable to give a prediction to how the fight will end when pressed for an answer, “we both have total game. It’s going to go everywhere.” While van Zyl agrees they are similar in style, he still sees himself as the superior athlete, “I think we are similar in many ways stylistically but I still feel I can out work and out brawl him.” He continued, “he is very good as a BJJ practitioner but I will beat him on the ground, there will be nowhere to hide.” “It is business as usual,” stated van Zyl. “I am constantly evolving and looking to bring my ‘A’ game. Smack talk and posturing will do nothing for me in the ring. My motivation is to be the best heavyweight in the organisation. Brendon is just another obstacle to achieving this. I will do what I need to claim victory.” Some fans have said that van Zyl chokes under pressure to which he responded with, “I have fought in four heavyweight title fights, I have won two and lost two. Choke? I think not. I’m about to change the record again.” “I am very excited to fight in the Cape I have lots of fans there,” exclaimed van Zyl about not competing in front his home crowd for the first time. “The crowd doesn’t exist once you are inside the Hexagon, this isn’t a factor. At least I will be breathing that nice sea air, remember I train in the smog and altitude of Johannesburg.” “I know Brendon is embracing what it means to be a professional athlete and this will have improved the good work that he had already done.” Van Zyl commented on his opponent Brendon Groenewald. “I have been living that life since 2010. I will be bringing the fight to him. The exchanges will be brutal and relentless and I will walk away with the belt that I have been waiting to get back for almost a year!” EFC 39: Groenewald vs. van Zyl, presented by BetXchange.com, and takes place at GrandWest, Cape Town, on Thursday 7 May 2015.
