According to EFC AFRICA president Cairo Howarth, EFC AFRICA 07 not only presents ground-breaking MMA entertainment, but also provides a platform to launch the careers of Africa’s top MMA prospects.

“We’re looking forward to a main card bout between two incredibly powerful heavyweights that have just joined EFC AFRICA, along with a fight card that is packed with talent from all over the continent. EFC AFRICA 07 gives many up-and-coming fighters an opportunity to earn new fans, and we have no doubt that EFC AFRICA 07 will be one of our best events yet.”

The main card bout features Durban’s Calven ‘The Butcher’ Robinson (8 wins, 1 loss) against Cape Town’s Ruan ‘Fangzz’ Potts (10 wins, 0 losses). Both heavyweights come from distinguished backgrounds in striking and grappling, which guarantees action no matter where the fight goes. With such massive reputations and legions of fans backing them, don’t expect either fighter to give an inch when they go head-to-head in EFC AFRICA’s main event. Another guaranteed highlight is the bout between Nolan ‘Real Deal’ Swanepoel and Mawande ‘Mr Magnificent’ Vapi. Swanepoel has been steadily climbing EFC AFRICA’s welterweight ladder but now faces Vapi, a decorated athlete who recently spent six months in the USA training with international MMA superstars. A true clash of styles, this epic encounter pits Swanepoel’s years of Jiu-Jitsu and Karate against Vapi’s renowned boxing and kickboxing.

Team Nigeria once again invades South Africa, bringing the ripped and ready Raymond Ahana to face Riaan Lombard, a former pro wrestler with very heavy hands. Also from Nigeria, Victor Anyaogu claims to have a devastating assortment of punches, kicks and chokes to unleash against established favourite Leo Gloss. From the DRC, Jean-Luc Kazadi and Francois Kabulu, two incredibly conditioned strikers, test their mettle against SA’s own Clinton Nel and Ashley Calvert. Kazadi and Nel have clashed before, but Nel promises to show Kazadi that he has emerged from the ashes of their last bout stronger, faster and far more dangerous. Look out for talented youngsters Josh Muller and Armand de Bruyn, both making their pro debut. Opposing them are Mike de Bruyn and Liam Cleland, experienced fighters hoping to crush the arrogance of youth.
