Johannesburg (South Africa) – EFC AFRICA’s very first featherweight champion will emerge when top contenders in EFC AFRICA’s lightest weight class do battle on 1 September. ‘King’ Leo Gloss will face Demarte ‘The Wolf’ Pena for the featherweight title, bringing the number of title fights on the card to two.

LEO GLOSS vs. DEMARTE PENA
Plus
NOLAN SWANEPOEL vs. LEON MYNHARDT
DINO BAGATTIN vs. MARTIN VAN STADEN
SEAN ROBINSON vs. JP JOUBERT
And many more
‘The Wolf’ has been hungry for the title since he made his pro MMA debut just 6 months ago at EFC AFRICA 07. Stringing together back-to-back wins over Mawande Mazithambe and Jean-Luc Kazadi has propelled him through the ranks, with only Gloss standing between him and the belt.
“This title shot is a dream come true,” said Pena. “In fact I’ve been wishing for it for so long that it seems overdue. Now, with just one fight between me and the title, I’m very confident that I have what it takes to win. I have a great team behind me and we’ve got the perfect plan to take down ‘The King’. I have a lot of respect for Leo because he comes highly prepared and he’s able to push the pace with his tried and tested style. Although he’s had many more fights than me, what I may lack in experience I make up for in heart and determination.”
Gloss too is confident that he will leave the Carnival City Big Top Arena as EFC AFRICA’s first featherweight champion. After all, he is a former lightweight title contender, knockout artist and holder of the record for most fights in the EFC AFRICA hexagon.
“I’m so excited I could jump through the roof!” said Gloss. “This is what I’ve been working towards for so long, another chance to show that I’m one of the best fighters at EFC AFRICA. Demarte is a tough competitor and a very humble guy so he’s the perfect title contender. I think we’re going to put on Fight of the Night, just don’t expect it to last three rounds because I’m taking the title with a knockout.”
Many more fights still to be announced for this massive occasion.
