Johannesburg (South Africa) – Three more bouts have been confirmed for EFC AFRICA 15, bringing the massively exciting fight card close to completion.
In the lightweight division, crafty submission specialist and taekwondo striker Alex Cheboub takes on kickboxing veteran Leon Mynhardt. Cheboub is fresh off a keylock submission win at EFC AFRICA 14, and Mynhardt is also riding a win after a bloody Muay Thai battle at EFC AFRICA 13. Stakes are high as the victor of this bout will move closer to challenging champion Costa Ioannou.
Another exciting new bout is the heavyweight clash between South Africa’s Andrew ‘One Gear’ van Zyl and Egypt’s Mohmed ‘The Hulk’ Karim. Van Zyl is a top contender in the division, having only one loss on his record thanks to EFC AFRICA champion Ruan Potts. Karim was set to make his EFC AFRICA debut in March this year, but his opponent pulled out due to injury in the lead-up to the bout. Karim has been hard at work since to ensure an even bigger bang on his rescheduled debut.
At middleweight, jiu-jitsu specialist Liam Cleland has stepped in to face fearsome kyokushin striker Tumelo Maphutha, whose original opponent, Armand De Bruyn, was recently elevated to main card status. Cleland is eager to avenge the loss he suffered at EFC 09, while Maphutha, making his middleweight debut, has a point to prove after a loss at EFC 11.
EFC AFRICA 15, presented by MusclePharm, takes place at the Carnival City Big Top Arena on 27 July.
