Johannesburg, South Africa – Earlier today Ashley Calvert contacted EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell with unfortunate news. Calvert suffered a concussion in training yesterday evening, and for safety reasons, he has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Cole Henning.
“We are really grateful that Ashley let us know about his concussion,” stated EFC president Cairo Howarth. He added, “Safety of our athletes is of the utmost importance to us. Competing with a concussion could lead to serious injury. We were really looking forward to Ashley competing again, but that time will come, when it is right. We wish Ashley a healthy recovery.”
Calvert was scheduled to face debutant Cole Henning on 11 July at EFC 41. The details for a replacement to face Henning will be released soon.
