Johannesburg, South Africa – EFC Gym Sandton hosted the official EFC 62 Media Day, where things took a dramatic turn during the press conference. Middleweight champion, England’s Yannick Bahati, slapped welterweight champion, South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis, in front of Du Plessis’ home crowd during their face-off.
After much back-and-forth between the two athletes in the lead up to the biggest fight in EFC history, this was the first time they stood face-to-face. The two athletes are known for their dislike of each other and have a long-standing score to settle.

“We have already received communication from the association governing the sport in South Africa (MMA SA PRO) regarding the altercation,” stated EFC Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell. “He has been reprimanded and will be up for review. I promise you, he will be dealt with harshly. This is why we have brought in private security.”
The full heated press conference, face-offs and interviews from the day will be available on EFCworldwide.com and various social media platforms soon.
This will all be settled next Saturday, in the EFC Hexagon at EFC 62 in Carnival City as the much-anticipated headlining fight finally takes place.
